The Union Cabinet chaired by honourable Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi had approved the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to set-up Infrastructure Investment Trust(s) (InvIT) in December 2019. This is the first InvIT sponsored by Government of India and Semi-Government entities as a primary objective to attract investments for the Infrastructure projects. The idea is to set up a competent entity of experts that can professionally run the Infrastructure Trust to mobilize resources from the market for monetizing completed highway projects of NHAI. As part of launching the InVIT, NHAI has hired Suresh Goyal, former India Head & Senior Managing Director, Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets - MIRA (India) as the MD & CEO of the upcoming InvIT. Besides Mr Suresh Goyal, the newly set up board consists of B Sriram, (former Managing Director & CEO of IDBI Bank) as chairman, Shailendra N Roy (former director at L&T Group) and MP Sharma as independent directors.

Job Profile:

  • The incumbent will be responsible for managing the Operations of Road assets by improving collectable revenue, enhancing operational efficiency, risk assessment, monitoring and mitigation. Also ensuring adherence to all statutory and legal requirements along with establishing an effective relationship with client, external and internal stakeholders. Key buckets of responsibilities will include :-
  • Technical: Should have been vastly experienced in execution of EPC or BOT projects and responsible for project delivery, safety, quality and smooth O&M of the highway assets. He shall be responsible for project delivery and operations, performance of contractors engaged by the SPV/ IM etc. He should have knowledge of relevant codes, specifications of MoRT&H, IRC etc. and be fully conversant with the obligations and requirements of Concession Agreements
  • Financial: To achieve budgeted revenue target and to drive all operating SPVs for cost optimization and spend within the operation budget allocated. To continuously explore alternative sources of revenue for the project
  • M&A and Portfolio Expansion : This role will be responsible to participate in asset purchase activities by providing technical inputs and due diligence needed for proposals / pricing Integration
  • Customer : Key liaison between management and the Board and responsible for communicating effectively with employees, shareholders, lenders, government authorities (both Central and State). For road users, ensure service levels with respect to number of accidents, potholes, transaction processing
  • Internal Process and Operations : Establish the Standard Operating Procedures and review MIS and take up red flags during process reviews with the team. Ensure that there is quick resolution to any operational problems and get involve in setting up troubleshooting mechanisms. Ensure exceptional level of maintenance of the facility
  • Technology : Should have a strong technological bent of mind and ability to implement new age technology solutions to improve the bottom-line and monitoring
  • Team building: Build and engage teams across geographies and groom them for next level of growth within the organization

Candidate Profile:

  • 20 + years overall experience; 5 years in Management field operating in roads O&M
  • Qualification - BE (Civil Engineering) with post-graduation in any technical discipline or management is preferred
  • Must have handled Compliances and Liaising with Government authorities / Police / local administration / State authorities / NHAI and other regulatory bodies
  • Knowledge of statutory aspects specific to labour matters
  • Strong marketing & vendor management skills
  • Commercials Acumen
  • High on Integrity and a strong team player
