A fund manager with an ethos. A wealth creator hellbent on making India stand out as a beacon of prosperity in the world. Navneet Munot has his roots firmly planted in the heart of India. From humble beginnings in Beawar, he has cemented himself as a formidable player in the world of financial investment.
After completing his chartered accountancy, Navneet Munot headed straight to the financial capital of Mumbai and began his professional journey with the Aditya Birla Group in 1994.
14 years later and after a brief pit-stop at Morgan Stanley, he decided to change lanes and take up a new challenge at SBI Mutual Fund. As Chief Investment Officer, he was instrumental in getting SBI back on track after the 2008 financial crisis. It was at SBI that he pioneered the ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) framework, for fund management. A move that earned him the title of the “Green Investor”.
2021 presented Navneet with yet another challenge. To lead and transform HDFC AMC, India’s third-largest fund house. As MD and CEO, he was instrumental in launching new funds, foraying into new investment opportunities and reviving the company’s Portfolio Management Services (PMS) business.
His yearly article on the ‘Person of the Year’ resonates deeply within financial circles, and is waited for with baited breath by investors and money managers alike.
We will be back next week with more insights from India’s top leadership.
