Starting out in the field of veterinary sciences, he decided to change track and enter the world of management. Armed with a MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and a degree from Harvard Business School, ‘Om’ as he is fondly called, started off at HUL in 1990. After 10 years in FMCG, he spent time at Monsanto as the head of Sales and Marketing, where his team successfully launched the company’s first ever biotech product, Bt-Cotton. Next up for Om was Ranbaxy where he led the International & Innovation group of the Consumer Healthcare division.
In 2005 he decided to shift to diagnostics with Dr. Lal PathLabs as COO. In 2008 he was appointed as CEO and led the company through a phase of rapid expansion and growth. He scaled the company to over 250 labs across the country and also ventured into international markets.
As leader he not only strives to reach the pinnacle of professional success but also scale new heights personally. He is an avid trekker who has run down trails across the world. From the Himalayan range to European Alps to the top of Kilimanjaro, he continues to pursue the adrenalin rush he first tasted when he was a teenager.
A leader who believes in being practical and leading with empathy, Om Prakash Manchanda is a model of exemplary professionalism and leadership.
